Moel Rhos No. 3 emerges from the tunnel in the Easter Monday evening sun and toots her newly radio

Looking back at lockdown virtual meet-ups

Back in 2020 lockdown came just in time to disrupt our (the South West Wales 16mm Area Group) programme of monthly meet-ups. But with everybody stuck at home – and in their gardens – what else was there to do but work and play trains? Our solution was to keep going with the monthly meet-ups, but to do them online…

This had the added bonus that without the geographical distance, we could also meet with the North West Wales area group.

Our virtual meetings took the form of a communal blog to which members sent photos and videos over the course of a weekend, combined with a Zoom chat. Members joined for one or both – the more ambitious of us also trying to livestream trains over Zoom (rarely successful but still good fun).

Our first virtual meet-up was over the Easter weekend. Here are some of the pictures I posted of the Moel Rhos.
