    Snow in the Sun

When I caught the sun on this patch of snow before it melted, I couldn’t resist another pic. It’s thawing fast now, but there are still patches around.

    Snow on the Moel Rhos

Unusual conditions this morning! As you can see I didn’t have time to steam up (and snow never lasts long on the Moel Rhos – it’s beginning to thaw and the sun has barely risen). But I posed this anyway, it’s irresistible when the white stuff comes.

  • Late night steam

    Late night steam

I was pleased with the effect on this photo which was taken during an evening running session in May 2020 at around 9.15pm. The low light forced my phone camera to slow the shutter, and a panned round with the loco to keep it in focus while the background blurred.

    Christmas Eve 2020

Merry Christmas everyone! Dipping into our virtual meet-ups from 2020/21 again, here’s a set of images from Christmas Eve 2020.

  • No 2 Chough

Another update from this Summer: As well as getting plates for No 1 Gannet I commissioned name plates from Narrow Planet for the Roundhouse Millie, so she is now named Chough, after another local bird I am always happy to see*.

  • Get Chuffed

I’d already bought some bling to accessorise my Millie, but the first real upgrade required some surgery: fitting a chuff pipe to get that chuffing sound.

  • Bling for the Millie

I have been buying some accessories to make my Millie look even lovelier.

  • First Run

When there was a short break between rain showers this afternoon I nipped out and steamed up the Millie for her first run on the railway.

  • Steaming Up

Night before last I steamed up Millie for the first time. I think it counts as a success – I managed to raise steam and run her on blocks for over 25 minutes.

  • Hello, Millie

    She’s here!
