First Run

When there was a short break between rain showers this afternoon I nipped out and steamed up the Millie for her first run on the railway. I was worried the gusting winds would blow out the burner (Millie is externally fired) but no such problem. Not much video though – it was hard enough for me to focus on driving! (Especially with spectators…) The book said to start out running with a heavy wagon – so I shoved a couple of rocks in my HGLW open wagon:

Not the smoothest run ever, due to operator inexperience as well as a need to run-in. No derailments however, and she steamed for 20 minutes – so I consider it a success. Hope I can have another steam tomorrow!
