DHR Class B in steam

A Spot of Darjeeling on the Moel Rhos

Visits from locomotives have been sadly rare in the past year, but this week we were privileged to have a (Roundhouse) Darjeeling and Himalayan Railway Class B on the line.

The loco ran well (the line had been weeded specially!) but unfortunately the tunnels proved problematic. The radio control setup on this loco meant to loco stopped when it lost signal (this seems a safe arrangement but Moel Rhos stock all runs on ‘cruise control’ i.e. when the signal goes, servos all remain in the same position) and it lost signal every time it went into either of the tunnels that are a major feature of the main loop! It’s not obvious how to address this issue… suggestions welcome!
