Wagon loaded with coal (and a shovel) behind the loco

More coal firing…

Since I got my coal-fired DJB Ragleth back in October I haven’t (for various boring reasons) had a chance to fire it again until last weekend. But I had two very satisfying and successful runs (one with the added pressure of some good friends watching me!)

This video show my third run with of the loco, and the first with a train, rather than running light engine. It’s one more thing to think about, alongside keeping the fire in (and when to open the blower), the coal level, the water level (and whether to open the bypass on the axle pump), the steam pressure, etc. etc. The train includes the loco coal in the first wagon (yes, I did loose two loads in derailments…)
